Tattoo Aftercare
Now that you've gone through the hard part and came out with an amazing piece of art, it's time to ensure it stays amazing!
Aftercare is one of the biggest factors in keeping your tattoo looking vibrant and fresh for years to come, please overview our aftercare recommendations to take proper care of your piece!
The first 48 hours
Whether or not you are using an aftercare wrap to heal your tattoo, within the first 48 hours you will want to stay relaxed, do not participate in activities that will make you sweat or repeatedly bend the tattooed area. Continue to stay hydrated and well fed, do not compromise your system with drugs or alcohol. Avoid extreme heat and direct sunlight.
If you are not using an aftercare wrap, wash with an antibacterial, unscented, liquid soap. Only moisturize if your tattoo gets dry and use a simple unscented lotion, avoid barrier ointments and oils such as Aquaphor or coconut oil.
The first 2 weeks
Most of our clients will be using an aftercare wrap, if so, follow your individual artist's instructions for the brand of wrap they use and reach out to them directly with any questions. Once it is time to take your wrap off or if you are not using an aftercare wrap at all, you will want to wash your tattoo 2-3 times a day with an antibacterial, unscented, liquid soap and moisturize 2 times a day with a simple unscented lotion.
Avoid submerging your tattoo (hot tubs, swimming, bathtubs) excessive sunlight and excessive sweating or activity that will bend the tattooed area.

Post-healed care
Once your tattoo is healed, what is there left to do?
You want your tattoo to stay looking as fresh and vibrant as possible, to achieve the best results your "aftercare" will last far longer than the healing process.
One of the most important factors in long-term tattoo care is avoiding sun damage, make sunscreen a part of your daily routine or wear sun protective clothing. This includes tanning, burning and tanning both will damage the skin over time and therefore damage your tattoo.
Keep your skin in good condition by staying hydrated inside and out, keep up with your water goals and moisturize daily. Lastly you will want to exfoliate regularly to keep your skin nice and fresh and remember to reach out to your artist if you are in need of a touchup!
